The elevator pitch competition will take place at the employer reception of the Vitae researcher development international conference 2011: realising the potential of researchers (  The reception will explore the value of researchers in employment outside the higher education sector and the potential impact of world-class researchers on the UK economy. The reception will begin with an update about the way researchers are trained and developed in the Higher Education sector, provide an overview of Vitae resources and an employer perspective.

This will be followed by the Elevator pitch competition where you will have the opportunity to present your elevator pitch on what researchers can offer to employers. You will have 2 minutes to ‘brand’ yourself, convincing employers of the skills you have. In particular, you may want to answer the question:

  • ·         What is the added value I can offer to an organisation?

Employers and staff supporting researcher development will then judge the pitches and award the best pitch presenter with a year’s subscription to Times Higher Education, including the digital edition and associated mobile phone app. However, the real value of this competition is the unique opportunity for you to make an impression on employers and showcase what you can bring to their organisation.
